I have an iphone 5 with iOS version 7.1 (11D167)
I open up spotify and try to do a search.
Spotify says : "you're offiline"
I ensure that I'm connected to the internet and I also make sure I navigate to playback -> settings and ensure offline mode is off
It still tells me I'm offline.
Any ideas?

I'd already rebooted by holding down just the lock key and that didn't work.
However, your suggestion seems to have helped.
Don't know what the difference is between the two methods of rebooting.
Thanks anyway
This did not work for me, on either my brand new iPAD or my iPhone 6Plus.
pretty pointless paying for Premium if songs won't download
2 x 128GB devices (iPAD & iPHONE) both only using 15Gb yet playlist won;t completely download...
@robertwilliams If your intention is to access your spotify app while addressing the issue of the erroneous "offline" message (I totally had that issue too), then you can just go here to use the online player (if it doesn't load, then maybe you really are "offline"?).
It could also be that you've already reached your capacity of offiline songs (as this is not unlimited), or perhaps your desktop version is not up to date? Have you tried deleting the app, then downloading the updated version?
