Spotify automatically starts playing thru Bluetooth in my truck even when the app is closed

Spotify automatically starts playing thru Bluetooth in my truck even when the app is closed

Just recently spotify starts automatically playing when my phone hooks up to the Bluetooth in my truck. Even when the app is closed on my phone. I am using an iPhone 6+ and I need to stop this or I will delete the app!

Hey @Mokecoke

Check out this detailed article on why this happens with car bluetooth and iOS and some solutions to stop it:

I think this is a feature / problem with iOS and not Spotify.

The same thing happens to me with my car and iPhone. I have my phone paired to the car's bluetooth so when I get in my phone automatically connects to the bluetooth of the car. What iOS does is if it connects and there is an active audio app in the background, it will automatically start playing. I've searched and there is no way to turn this off. For me it happens with Spotify and a few other audio apps I use.

The best solutions is to make sure you have the Spotify app or any other audio app comepletely closed out before you get in the car and the bluetooth automatically connects. If Spotify is closed out, but still in the background app switcher it will still auto play. It needs to be closed out.

Hopefully that helps. And hopefully Apple can add a setting to the bluetooth where it doesn't automatically start playing upon connection with a car. This problem only happens when I am using bluetooth in the car. Doesn't happen with a bluetooth speaker.

Spotify is totally closed out and it still automatically starts. Also I have had spotify, the same phone and the same truck for several years and it just started doing it. Will check my truck settings and phone but it doesn't do it with any other app. Spotify is the only one and it happens even when I have even closed spotify out in the background.

Mine does this too even when it is completely closed out. Also he same song plays every time and it’s not even a song I have searched for, in a playlist I have, or had even heard before. It’s just weird and the song is so annoying to me now.

I have the same problem with my Kenwood radio in my car, and my Samsung Galaxy S8+

I have tried swiping the app in the notifications pull-down on my phone to close it. but it keeps starting up in my car.    I am brand new to Spotify (about three days, now) and was looking for solution.  I thought it was my error, but it looks like it may be an issue with bluetooth/Android/iOS, and not Spotify.,.

I havs the same thing happening with my Android device. Its irritating and can waste my data. I went to library, settings and set the player to offline mode only. It's a bit annoying to remove it from offline mode when I'm connected to wifi but it has stopped that annoying autoplay feature when I start my car.
