Spotify crashes after calls in BMW

My Question or Issue

 I have a BMW 2-Series and listen to my Spotify playlists from my phone by connecting it through the BMW connected services on the iDrive system. Recently, after updating the Spotify app, I noticed the following behavior:

1. I would be listening to music on Spotify
2. I recieve a call on my phone, so the car stops playing spotify and starts “ringing”
3. I answer the phone call through the iDrive system
4. After I hang up, the music from Spotify doesn’t start playing automatically, although my phone’s screen shows that the music is playing (Spotify shows the pause button instead of the play button, but no music is playing). After I click on pause or previous/next, spotify on my phone freezes and crashes a few seconds later

This issue is reproducible in my car, and just started happening after I updated the Spotify app a few days ago.. Is it a known issue? Is anyone else experiencing it too?

I have the exact same problem but with another car brand, for me Hyundai i20.
