Spotify not recognizing my iPod shuffle after syncing yesterday

Yesterday I connected my new iPod Shuffle to Spotify which recognized the device.  It went into the sync mode and supposedly synced some of my playlist into the device.  I  played a number from the device to make sure the music was loaded, however when I plugged it into my car, the music wasn't there.  I restored the device to its factory settings on iTune, plugged it back into Spotify to re-sync my Spotify playlist and now it doesn't show up on the page, although I hear the "device connected" tone on my computer.  Please help.
