Hey,
so I encountered this issue, when I have my bluetooth speaker connected to my phone (iPhone 12 mini, but it happened on my iPhone 7 too) and try to play anything, it always just stops after a second. If I just disconnect a speaker and play it without it, it plays without an issue. Also if I try to play anything from my PC, and connect the same speaker to it, it plays normally.
I tried to do some googling but didn't find anyone mentioning this issue. The podcast or song never plays for longer than one second. It doesn't show any kind of error or anything.
I would really appreciate it if anyone could help, thanks. 🙂

Hey there folks!
Just to check, are you still experiencing issues with this? Do you notice any difference after following the steps provided in the post from @Hewitta77?
Keep us posted on how it goes. Many thanks!
I have a Stanmore II Marshall bluetooth speaker, currently using the IOS 17.5.1 version on a iPhone 13 mini.
Hi, I am experiencing this issue with my phone and a Bluetooth speaker. Using version 9.0.10.409 on iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 18.1.1. Resolves when I quit Spotify on my computer, per @Hewitta77’s advice.
FYI to Spotify, I'm having this exact issue.
Hey there @alisoneredman,
Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.
Could you let us know which troubleshooting steps you've already tried? That way we can avoid repeating any steps. Additionally, would you mind checking if this happens with multiple Bluetooth devices or only with a specific one?
We'd also like to know which devices you're experiencing this behavior with. Make sure to include the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your devices as well.
Keep us posted.
As far as I can tell, this is only happening with one specific bluetooth device, a pair of Sony XM6 headphones. It is only happening with Spotify. I'm using a Macbook Air, running MacOS 15.6.1 and an iPhone 13 Mini running iOS 18.6.2. I just updated to the most recent versions of Spotify on both devices.
When I play music in the Spotify desktop app with the headphones, it plays for about 5 seconds then stops. The time keeps moving, as if it is still playing, but there is no sound. When I look at my phone, it acts like it is now playing the music, but it is also not making sound. When I swipe up to close the app on my iPhone, then the desktop app goes back to normal and plays through the headphones.
Hey @alisoneredman,
Thanks for following up with more details!
As this only happens with a certain pair of headphones, it's possible that it's related to the current setup. It's worth checking both the devices settings to ensure Spotify has all permissions enabled. Another thing which comes to mind is having a look at the headphones system settings too. This can usually be checked in a Sony specific app called Sounds Connect.
We can also suggest disconnecting any other Bluetooth devices you're using, just to see if you notice any difference in the behavior.
Cheers 🙂
