Spotify thinks I'm offline- shuffle play only

I'm using an iPad mini and the Spotify app. I have a lot of albums saved and playlists set up, but I get a message saying I'm working offline and so I can only shuffle play music. The iPad itself is showing up as connected to wifi and everything else is working fine. Why does Spotify think I'm offline? All my notifications and saved albums disappeared for a while, but reappeared when I deleted and reinstalled the app. That hasn't solved the shuffle problem though.
