My Question or Issue

Spotify won't play on cellular, only WiFi. I've done a clean reinstall, cleared the cache, ensured it's checked on cellular data usage, low data mode isn't on, background app refresh is on. It's not a T-Mobile issue as all my other apps work on cellular. What else can I try?

Hey there @Kang-aroo

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community!

Could you let us know if this has always happened or if it started happening after a specific event? We'd also like to know if this only happens on your iPhone or if you create a hotspot on it and use that connection on a different device you can replicate the same behavior. Additionally, let us know if the app loads and it just won't start playing your content or if it doesn't load at all.

On another note, we'd recommend checking if there are any pending updates for the iOS version of your phone. You just need to head to Settings > General > Software update

We'll be waiting for your reply.

Hi Eni,

Thanks for your reply. This started when I replaced my iPhone13 screen with a non-Apple product. I replaced that screen so I could trade it in for an iPhone16e. I downloaded my data from iCloud to my 16e, and Spotify still won't play on cellular. The app loads but won't play content except sometimes a recently listened to song. It does play on WiFi and hotspot. My iOS version is up to date, 18.4.1.

Thanks for the reply, @Kang-aroo!

Are you using a proxy/VPN? If so, I'd suggest disabling it to see if that does the trick. Something else you can try is switching the APN Protocol IPv4/IPv6, if possible. It's also worth switching to another access point, if available, or resetting the APN settings. You'll find a guide on how to do that here.

Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes 👍

I just spent 30min with T-Mobile and nothing worked. They suggested I go to the Apple Genius Bar. Oddly, some apps work and some don't.

Thanks for keeping in touch, @Kang-aroo! ✌️

In that case, the issue might be isolated to your particular device, given that other apps are also affected. Something else that comes to mind is using another SIM to see if that helps.

Overall, the folks over at the Apple Genius Bar might be able to assist further, so I'd recommend checking with them too.

Hope you get this sorted out. The Community is just a post away in case something else comes up.

Take care 💚
