Synching IPad with Laptop

I know Led Zeppelin isn't available in Spotify, but I do own the CDs and have them all on iTunes on my laptop. How do I get them into my iPad Spotify app? I've tried doing what the guides say - connecting both the laptop and iPad to the same WiFi network, but the desktop app still doesn't see any devices. Why would that be? Secondly, how do you get music into local files in the iPad app? Do you go from iTunes?

How are you supposed to do a classic rock playlist without Led Zep or ACDC? Come on Spotify. Do a deal with those bands. It's blood ridiculous. We've all bought the CDs and LPs dozens of times over the years. How much money do those old geezers want?
