I get this error every time I launch Spotify on my iPhone, even though I'm online. I click OK and then the tracks are available for play. Anyone find a workaround for this error?
I have the exact same problem and it's incredibly annoying since it happens every time I open Spotify on my iPhone. Tried the Turning Offline Mode off and then on again fix, with no change.
What gives?

Just a thought - Are most of you getting this when connected to a 4G network?
We're currently not compatible with LTE networks, which may be why this message is showing up.
Since this is the iOS forum and the LTE iPhone was only just released, you can assume these people are using 3G and not LTE. I started this post and I was on an iPhone 4S on 3G.
I just tested this again on my iPhone 5, on WiFi and the issue remains. I explained back in August why this is happening but here it is again in case you missed it. Please try to file this as a bug with your developers so we can see this resolved and finally close this thread.

The error occurs when the Spotify app is launched and can't immediately find the Spotify servers. It's an easy fix for the developers, just delay the error a few seconds in order to give the app enough time to connect to the servers. If 5 or 10 seconds go by and still no server connection, then something is wrong and this error should then be displayed. It's as if the app gives up too soon.
I use an iPhone 4S and still get this message even though I'm on 3G. That LTE thing could be a seperate issue, but wouldnt account for the majority of complaints seen here.
I am on 3G and this happens to me constantly. It happens whenever opening the app after having paused to get out of the car or whatever. When unlocking the phone, returning to the app, and attempting to pick up where I left off (or just double-tapping the home button to bring up the transport controls), i get the error EVERY TIME. while it doesn't break the app, i really hate losing my place in a playlist or album. The app never did this before the most recent update. I am on 3G only via Verizon on an iphone 4.
Okay, what are we doing about this guys? Can we admit this is a bug? Developers working on it? We are paying $10/month for a complete annoyance that has not been admitted to be a bug. A little feed back would be nice. The app simply is not waiting to connect before it throws up the "Only Available Online" error. There has to be a way to fix this. I'm about to rate this app poorly as it does not perform up to the $10/month expectations.
And in case anyone was wondering, this bug affects the iPad app as well. Original iPad 3G, AT&T.
same here on my iPad 2. i have deleted the app and have reinstalled to see if this corrects the issue.
I am beyond frustrated with this issue. iPhone 4S iOS 6.0.
They told me to change my streaming from Normal to High and see if that makes a difference. Highly doubt that it will; kind of makes me miss Rdio. I use Spotify because it has a better metal selection to be honest.
Has it made a difference?
Bumping this thread as I am getting this error all the time on my playlists now.
In the beginning the errors were only some times, now it's on near all songs in my playlist or artists that I've found through the search function.
I am using Ipad2.
just an update. a re-install of the app did not resolve the issue, though the problem seems to occur less frequently.
since the upgrade to iOS 6 my overall experience with the spotify app on the iphone 4 over 3G has gone way downhill. the music pauses and takes several seconds (sometimes up to a full minute) to come back numerous times during my work commute. This never used to happen and now happens at the same spots every day. ugh.
I too get this issue constantly. Give it enough time and it will resolve itself..but this is not a solution, it has become extremely annoying when using the app in the car or on the go. Constantly losing my place, I've gotten to the point that I use a different app half the time because I know I'll get instant playback and pick up where I left off.
Just had a though, what if you guys had 2 apps, one that has all the features like search, news, discovery, social.. and then a 2nd app that is totally streamlined for JUST playback. I think that could drastically improve the playback experience, meanwhile you still have those other options on your phone if you are away from your computer.
One more, as described above.
I got and still get the "online" error-message both on 3G and wifi, and it may play a minute or two of a song and then it stops.
The "status-bar" remains in play symbol, but no progress on songs.
Start/Stop/Selecting any other song, nothing happen.
If I kill the app, it will repeat as described above.
I have now removed app, restarted, reinstalled and for the moment it seem to work (still have the "online" error-message thou)
Thanks.
(edit: IOS 5.1.1, IPhone4, latest Spotify)
What an annoyance! It's been happening to me since I started Spotify Premium over a year ago. It happened on my iPhone 4 and now it happens on iPhone 5 all the time. Even when I have a solid 3G or WiFi signal and I bring the app back from the background after not using it for over 15+ minutes.
THIS ERROR IS SO ANNOYING!!!! PLEASE FIX IT ALREADY!!!
that's 4 full pages worth of people experiencing the problem. how many pages until we get a fix?
**bleep**ing redunkulous. Fix this **bleep**. How hard can it be? I am paying $120/year for something that I have to dismiss each time and lose my place in the playlist.
I also suffer from the Lock Screen bug which doesn't update the track past track #2 on my bluetooth car stereo. Two bugs that I shouldn't have to deal with for $120/year.
Giving them until the New Year to fix it then off to someone else.
Lame.
Well it appears as thought the latest build has fixed this problem for me. I downloaded the latest update today and tested it a couple of time on Wi-Fi and 4G and could not get the Track Only Available Online error to come up.
Can anyone else confirm that this was fixed on their end with the update?
Now just to tackle the Lock Screen Track Update bug.
