Tried to sync but it only erased

I tried to sync the music and playlists from Spotify onto my Ipod Nano and all that it did was erase the previous music on my ipod. Now I can't figure out why it won't sync the Spotify music and playlists onto it.

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂 

Spotify can only be used to sync local files which you own to an iPod nano, not any content from the Spotify catalogue since there is no supported application to decode the tracks on non-"smart" iPods.
