Trouble with Playlist

I have a playlist that I play in the car and at the gym. It's the same playlist of about 500 or so songs. In the past, I've been able to play through all these songs, the playlist stops and then I just restart/reshuffle it (with the exception that every so often I'll go in and update the songs in the playlist, so in that instance I may not get through the whole playlist before having to restart). This playlist is in downloaded and played in offline mode.

 

A few things have been happening recently:

 

Let's say I listen to Songs A thru H, and stop at H for the night. When I go to resume, it starts back up at H, but I randomly noticed one day that if I backtrack to the previous song, it's actually Song K, then J, then I, then H. So if I were to resume it without backtracking, I essentially miss hearing songs I, J, and K. And this was a random fluke that I noticed because I had stopped in the first 30 seconds of song and was backtracking to start over at the beginning and hit previous one to many times. Since I noticed this, I have just been backtracking to the last song that I fully listened to, then it plays the normal queue...

 

Although more recently, I have been having to restart the playlist every few days. I'll listen to the playlist for a few days, and then the next day I'll go back to resume where I left off and the play screen ans queue is gone (with the last song I stopped on) and I have to restart the playlist. This is becoming very annoying.

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

 

The Spotify app automatically removes your playlist progress record after some time depending on your device and OS. Unfortunately, this is not something that you can manually adjust from the Spotify app settings. 

 

The progress and saved songs in the queue will get cleared, whenever your phone clears unused app data from the device.

Thanks for replying and helping me clear this up. I guess I'll just have to live with restarting my playlist every few days... I looked in phone settings (as best as I could) and couldn't find a way to control how often or from which apps it clears unused data from device. Oh well. At least I have a reasoning and it's not just something random. Thanks again! 🙂
