My Question or Issue

When I want to select music from downloaded tracks or just choose a playlist, the app crashes. Occasionally I'll get to the playlist, but it's rare. Are you seeing this problem with other users as well?

Hey @TomHardy84,

Thanks for posting here on the Community 🙂

That seems a bit odd. It's a good idea to check if there are any pending updates for the watch.

We'd suggest you also try restarting your watch to see if that changes anything.

Let us know how it goes.

Done (check updates) and done (restart, many times), still crashing.

Hey there @TomHardy84,

Thanks for the reply.

Can you try connecting the watch to another network and see if that it still crashes. Also, try accessing a playlist that doesn't contain any local files.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Wi-fi, 4G, 5G, doesnt matter. Still crashes. Same for with/without local files.

Has anybody same problem?

Hey @TomHardy84,

Thank you for your reply and confirmation.

Can you confirm if your phone has any pending updates?

Can you try deleting the app and then reinstall it on the watch?

It would also be great if you have have someone connect their account to the watch to see if the issue persist. This will help us understand if it's account related or not.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Take care!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Hi Jeremy, you probably didn't read the first post, so again - no, there is no update. Not on the watch, not on the phone.

Second - you've probably never held an Apple Watch SE, because in that case you'd know that you CANNOT even use the Spotify app properly on the Apple Watch unless one first deletes it from the phone and reinstalls it (until that point, you can't just play music from the watch).

And thus, I also have no idea how I would connect another user to an Apple product paired to a specific ID.

Anyway, there's nothing complicated about it in terms of defining the problem. I have an iPhone 12 Mini, paired it with an Apple Watch SE (both first user). When I turned the watch on, Spotify installed itself. Then it didn't work on its own without the phone, and I read on the forum that it's because I have to uninstall and reinstall the app from the phone. From that point on, while I can finally listen to music from just the watch, 90% of the time I can't select (as seen in the video above). The app actually crashes (disappears on Apple Watch even from the last open ones). I use eSim on the watch. Maybe the problem is in the region (Czech Republic), maybe just in the optimization (from what I understand, there are a number of problems with the SE series).

Hi @TomHardy84,

Thank you for your reply and giving more insights about the issue.

In order to test a different account on your Watch, first you'll need to open that account on the Spotify mobile app.

Then, from the My Watch app remove Spotify and install it again. It will synchronize with the new account.

Please let us know how it works after doing this test.

We'll be on the lookout.

I tried a different account and unfortunately the result is still the same. It's a pity. I bought the Cellular version primarily so I wouldn't have to carry my phone to listen to music, and Spotify as the only app doesn't work.

Hey @TomHardy84,

Thanks for keeping in touch.

Since this isn't expected, but we haven't seen any other reports about it, we suggest reaching out to our Support team through any of these channels so they can take a more detailed look into this specific situation.

You can share this the link to this thread with them so they know what you've already tried.

Hope it gets sorted out soon. If you need anything else, the Community is here for you.

Cheers.

I am using an Apple Watch SE (GPS only) with a premium Spotify subscription, and run without my phone. I have downloaded a bunch of playlists and albums into the Apple Watch for offline listening during my runs. However, the app keeps crashing and I am not able to select any of my downloaded songs 😞

Hi, its a bug. Not fix yet, but i recomended, before running, logout and log in in phone. Thats work for me (not a hundred percent, but in most cases)

I hope this helps

Thanks for the tip. I hope Spotify will fix this bug soon. Otherwise, I'm seriously considering jumping onto Apple Music. The reason I got the Apple Watch SE was so I could go on my runs while listening to music.

Hi, I am currently using a Apple Watch SE (GPS) and premium spotify user. I am also experiencing similar problems when I click onto "my downloads" the app exits itself. I see that you can still manage to reopen the app. However, my case persist this way: https://t.co/rz74bM0Hgx?amp=1 . The app just simply doesnt open, and after multiple god-knows-how-many-times trying to open the app, what you experience is what I am experiencing too. I have spoken to both teams: Spotify and Apple. Spotify revert me to check with Apple team, while Apple team revert me back to Spotify team.

I have tried all the possible methods:
1) Restart my watch
2) Force restart my watch
3) Uninstall Spotify on my watch and redownload
4) Erase my watch and reset watch
5) Unpair my watch and reset watch
6) Update latest versions of spotify on both devices
7) Update latest software on both devices

ALL JUST SIMPLY DOESNT WORK.

Exact same problem here but on series 4 device. All troubleshooting steps complete as above.

I have an Apple Watch SE and this same problem is happening to me.   I like to listen offline with my AirPods without my phone while running.  If I try to open the app, it often crashes immediately.  Sometimes, it will allow me to listen to a song or two, then crashes.  I have tried to "force open" the app with my phone, listen to a song then switch to listen through my watch.  This sometimes works.  The app is unreliable.  It would be great to get a solution.

Me too!! I can’t solve that, tried everything

I have same problem
