When searching an artist Spotify stops music currently playing and autoplays music from new artist

Hi there,

when I play music and simultaneously search around the platform for the next track I want to play, Spotify stops the music currently playing and starts autoplaying a top track from the artist whos page I‘m looking at. It wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a very simple explanation for this but I have searched everywhere with no luck. This happens on my phone as well as my computer and I have tried deleting and reinstalling so it seems it might be a problem inside the app. Have anyone else experienced this and is there a fix?

Hi there!

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? Sorry if this may sond a bit repetitive but if that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app by following these steps.

Make sure you've all the latest updates installed. It may due to a sensitive scroll-stop gesture but if possible from your end could you share a screenrecording of your issue?

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

I'll see what I can suggest next!

Hi again,

thank you so much for your suggestions.

I have tried restarting and a clean reinstall as well with no luck unfortunately.

All latest updates are installed (Spotify 8.4.79.933), and in fact this issue has been ongoing for the past few updates from Spotify I think.

I am running an iPhone 8 with iOS 12.1.2. The bug (or whatever the problem is) only happens once a while but plenty to be annoyed by it. I managed to capture a screen recording, in this case playing Tame Impala but going in to Tyler The Creaters page. I’m 99% sure I didn’t touch the track in a scroll stop. Please do let me know if you have any ideas. Many many thanks for your advise. Best regards.
