The recommendations s*ck:
- Listened to a few anime covers, now all my "Discover Weekly" is filled with disgusting covers. I'm trying to "not like" all of them, but it doesn't work.
- In-playlist recommendations: the algorithm is as dumb as it can be: songs from the same artists, songs from the same country/related. How about actually recommending interesting songs based on the playlist?
- You can't clean history. **bleep**, I've stopped listening to rock years ago and still get rock recommendations.
At some point about a third of the tracks in weekly discovery were decent. Now I'm happy, if a least one of the 20 albums which are on the home page contains 1 single track that I actually don't want to turn off. Why is the core feature of your app getting worse and worse?
They probably have some sort of promo from the same songs they keep playing over and over again. I literally have never liked a $uicdeBoy song and that all they keep playing for me. There's a reason after all the content you have thrown at me I have never liked one song. Please stop. Your recommendations are hot garbage Spotify!
Your recommendations are absolute and utter garbage. Nothing new that is actually similar to the 800 songs in my liked songs, how the **bleep** is it so difficult to not promote garbage music? I thought you used some kind of smart algorithm that tries to suggest objectively similar music but no, it's 99% based on era and genre
The recommendations are seriously broken
1) Even when I remove a song from an artist, it returns when I reshuffle even though the popup says it will stop recommending that song.
2) It recommends similar songs from the same artist or similar artists when I have requested it to be removed as a recommendation.
3) The recommended songs are basically just top of the pops sort of bs. My playlist is filled with punk, metal, with a little rap and other stuff. Recommendations are basically 70's rock bands, pop rock/punk like Nickleback or Papa Roach. Or I get lots of popular grunge artists. Nothing in my playlist would/should indicate these are good recommendations.
It is a crappy algorithm. My guess it is driven by commercial interests more than anything else. And, without being able to mark an artist or song with the thumbs down/dislike the songs and artists just keep coming back. Unfortunate because it makes the shuffle with recommendations unusable.
Sorry man. This is a bogus answer from you. Your algorithms are trash. I do not have a single grunge song or artist in my playlist. Yet, magically, when I shuffle with recommendations, I get loads of Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, etc. Of course I am going to keep listening to songs I like. It would be nice if your recommendations offered stuff I liked as well.
