Wrong songs being played

The spotify app was updated automatically this morning on my iPod and now it plays the wrong songs. I have looked up several times today on how to fix it but there are only solutions on how to fix it on your computer but not the application. There also grey blocks appearing on my list of saved music.

I'm having the same issue. It only happens when it's filtered by title for me.

Hello & welcome to the community!

Have you tried having a clean installation of the app.

This helps to solve a lot of problems within the app.

To do a successful clean installation follow these steps:

1. Delete the Spotify application from your iPhone/iPod.
2. Restart your iPod/iPhone
3. Install Spotify again from the App Store

If this doesn't help then it might just be a bug. These kind of things get fixed pretty quickly by Spotify.

The exact same thing is happening to me. It plays the song 4 spots up from the selected one only in my music and when the music is sorted alphabetically.

I also just realized that it won't allow me to play some songs either. I even tried deleting and redownloading them.

I've seen this before, can you check the following:

Seems that its regarding songs who are not there anymore (local device music perhaps?)

- Open Preferences -> Under "Display Options" set "Show unavailable tracks in playlists" to enabled.
- Open the playlist, sort by Name, scroll down until you have passed titles with number in their names. There you should see empty rows.
- Delete the empty rows.
- Now tit should work.

My bad, it's indeed something on your iOS device, strange.. - misread it

I assume that this is regarding offline playlists? - in that case, can you disable the offline mode for that specific playlist, and put it back on to see if that makes any difference?

It's the same online or offline. It's only on the basic song list in my music that's sorted alphabetically.

I noticed that it happens when filtering them Alphabetically by Title. 

The songs that are titled with a number (ex: for me, 21st Century by RHCP), it plays in place of the first "A" titled song.

So if you have 3 number-titled songs, then those will glitch your playlist.

Sadly, once I remove any numbered-named songs (which are located at the bottom of the list of songs), only THEN will the songs play properly. 

I'm hoping for a bug patch soon, because having to remove songs in order to play my list properly is pretty lame.

Really all they need to do to fix the error is to place "#" tracks ahead of "A" tracks in the 'sort by title' filtering and the problem will be solved.

I'm also having this problem, and in my opinion this update looks like a rushed beta. The grey blocks and wrong songs being played clearly shows this was released without proper testing. C'mon Spotify, fix this.

Yap I have the exact same problem. Last update caused this. Please spotify rectify this or allow us to roll back to the previous update

And in fact it's not only numbered starting songs that are causing the problem. Foreign language titles eg Chinese music are also causing the confusions. At least in my case it is anyway

im having the same problem too.  it plays the numered songs first when really they are at the end.  so when i click on a song it actually plays a song a couple of spaces up

Omg this actually worked. But this sucks that I had to delete all my songs that stated with a number in order for this to work. They seriously need to fix the bugs ASAP. A friend of mine already switched to Apple music due to this same problem.

Yeah I had to make a list of the songs I removed so it would play normally..

An alternative to keep your numbered songs would be to just filter your song list by 'Recently Added', and then just shuffle your music. The songs should play accurately that way.

But It's just a pain to find the songs you want to listen to at that point 😞
