current audio app spontaneously switches from spotify to default music app on iOS 6

Has anyone else experienced a problem with the current audio app changing by itself on iOS 6?  Here's what happens:

1. Listen to spotify on iOS 6 (or 6.0.1)
2. Pause spotify.
3. Double click the home button and swipe the task switcher to the right.  You will see spotify as the currently playing music app.
4. Wait a few hours.
5. Check the currently playing music app again and see that it has switched by itself to the default iOS music app.
6. If you un-pause the music, the first song in the default music app library will start playing.

I've searched around online, but don't see anyone else reporting this issue.

I'm on iOS 5.0.1 and have run into this exact problem.

I've skimmed the forum for similar problems without luck, but if someone's solved this, I apologize in advanced for bumping an old topic.

I did find some threads about car controls not working, but that did not seem helpful.

I'm positive this has worked the way I expect it to earlier.

I'm on an iPhone4s with Apples new earplugs.
