iOs unable to automatically switch devices / sound source

I am on iOs and iPados. Up until a few weeks ago i was able to play spotify on my phone and then start playing a sound on a different app on my ipad to the same headphones. Normally it would stop playing the phone spotify music, play the ipad sound and if that ceases to be, continue playing the iphone spotify music. I am missing this feature dearly and am wondering how such a helpful feature can be gone.

What have i done wrong?

If the issues started happening a few weeks ago, it's possible that it was related to an OS or app update. First, to make sure that the old cache is not affecting the proper behavior of the app, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This also ensures that your devices are running the latest app version.

Also, would you mind checking with a different music app on your phone to see if it resumes the audio after playing a sound from your iPad?

Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your devices, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
