iPhone 5 not showing in devices

I've looked at all of the solutions and none of them have helped so far. I have tried toggling online/offline, I have tried turning off my firewall, i have tried hardwiring it to the p.c., I have tried restarting both the phone and my computer but none of this has helped at all. Any more suggestions? The only thing i can think of is that it is not syncing because i'm using a local connection for my p.c.. How would i go about solving this?
