ggrrrr same problem here! Is there any reaction from the Spotify guys?
Hey Peter, that's interesting - I took from this page here http://www.spotify.com/uk/help/faq/ipod-integration/#sync-your-device-with-spotify that Spotify can sync with an ipod nano... just that it will only sync your local or downloaded files (and if you have a Premium subscription, you'll have downloaded files for offline playing?). I had thought from the earlier posts here that if we had ipod nanos with the old connectors on them, they'd be fine, but it's ipod nanos with the new lightning connector that won't work.
Have I missed something? I'm pretty new to all this so it's entirely possible : )
Hey again 🙂
The downloaded files that it is referring to in that FAQ are tracks that you have purchased and downloaded from another source (or from the now removed Spotify downloads store).
The FAQ below:
Can I sync my streaming music from Spotify to my iPod?
No. Only local music files can be synced to your iPod. Spotify streaming music can only be played within Spotify applications.
In this context, Spotify streaming music is any music which comes from Spotify's online catalogue, including offline synced playlists. The reason being, those tracks are encrypted to prevent piracy of the music and therefore require the application to decode them.

Hey Peter, I understand what you are saying. However, with the nano it schould be possible to connect the iPod to spotivy as written in FAQ:
2. Connect your iPod to your computer and the iPod will appear under “Devices” in Spotify instantly.
The problem is that the ipod doesn't appear at all.

Hey! 🙂
Sorry, I think there is a misunderstanding here.
The post above was relating to the previous post about being able to sync Spotify streamed tracks to an iPod nano just for clarification of the information in the FAQ.
You are correct, the iPod nano should still appear under devices so that you can sync your local files to it. This is a known bug as posted here. There is currently no work around that I am aware of.

It says that the problem is solved. Is the solution that it doesn't work? If so I will return my new Ipod and simply buy an old one with the old connection.
Anyone got any new info?

Hi,
Is there update/solution available for this topic/issue?
My ipod nano doesn't appear at all on my spotify devices.
best regards
Riccardo
If it is one with a lightning connector, sadly the bug is still unresolved.

hi so does this mean if i bought an ipod nano with 30 pin it would still be able to sync my downloaded tracks from premium?
Spotify content can only be downloaded to devices capable of running the spotify app which excludes nanos I'm afraid. You can only synch your own music to a nano.
How does one buy extra spotify for an ipod nano sixth generation?
yea I want to know how to do this too.
