iPod Classic shows up in devices, but will not sync

Hello,

I have been using Spotify for more than a year. I have Premium. The version I am using is 0.8.8.334.g2c6a424b. I am trying to sync my 80gb iPod classic (I don't know what gen that is) to Spotify. It shows up in Devices. I did try to sync it. Now, I have ejected my iPod. There are no songs on it. This does not make any bit of sense. I synced it with all of my local files. They should be on the iPod. Nope. No songs. This is extremely frustrating because I have been using iTunes (the latest version) which is a terrible program, and I have gotten fed up with it, which is why I am trying to sync with Spotify. My iPod's screen says it is connected, and in Spotify, it shows up in Devices. When I click on "iPod" there is a blank gray screen. I have ejected it and replugged it multiple times. Same problem. What can I do?
