ipad 2 offline mode continues to clock on playlist screen

If my ipad is not on wifi and Spotify is in offline mode on the column that shows my playlists it continues to give me the circle as if it's still clocking.  If I am in offline mode why does it continue to do this?  I can still access my playlists and play my music as I've selected them to synch in offline mode but this is kind of annoying.

Additional info that I found when trying to recreate.  If I am online and open Spotify and then set ipad so it's in offline mode (without completely closing down the Spotify app) and then go back to Spotify it does not do this.  However, if I completely close down the Spotify app and then reopen the app after going to offline mode that is when this scenario happens.
