iphone lockscreen won't dim after I receive a notification

iphone lockscreen won't dim after I receive a notification

iOS 12.1.4

My Question or Issue

When I am listening to spotify, and the screen is locked, if I receive a notification, or raise the phone to check the time, the screen lights up, as it should, however the screen never dims again.  The screen remains lit, draining my battery if I don't notice that it has lit up and stayed on.  If the spotify app is closed and not running on my phone, this issue doesn't occur.  The screen will light up for a short period when a notification comes through, but then dims again just as it should.  This only happens when using spotify in background and the music controls are visible on the lock screen.

PLEASE help, I am constantly having to manually re-dim the lockscreen each time this happens, which is extremely frustrating while just trying to get through the work day, and even worse while driving as I don't notice and it kills my battery.

Hey @caitm and welcome to the Community.

Hope you're doing great!

This issue seems to be under investigation.

I'd suggest adding your +VOTE and details there.

I'd also recommend updating to iOS 12.2 🙂

Thanks!

Thank you, I'll check that post!

I was having this same issue on iOS12.1.4 and updated to iOS12.2.

The update has not fixed this issue for me, I have tried restarting my phone to see if that helps fix it temporarily and it doesn't seem to help.

I am also showing that spotify has consumed 49% of my battery usage (4min on screen; 3 hr 10min background)
