is Spotify app smart? using offline songs when online?

basic question.

let's say I'm using the Offline mode, and then I download 20 tracks for offline use.

then after let's say a couple of weeks I switch to the normal Online mode using my 4G connection on the iPhone.

what happens if I play those 20 tracks? will they stream normally (and thus using my data connection) or is Spotify smart enough to use the already downloaded offline versions even when in online mode?

As far as I know, it uses the (offline) downloaded tracks whilst streaming.

My data stats are the evidence 🙂 official? Not that I'm aware of. But it's a basic features and I assume they don't have to officially announce it
