same songs over and over....

Hello, i'm new to Spotify.  I'm using the free version.  I love the concept of thumbs up/thumbs down.

However, it's getting to the point where I'm afraid to tell Spotify I like a song because Spotify then plays that song waaaay too much.  I thought the point of the thumbs up was to give Spotify a sense of your musical tastes so it could make an educated guess on other songs you might like.

Is there some sort of setting or something where I can tell Spotify not to repeat a song on the same day or something?
