spotify using insane amount of data on iphone 5S

this problem has been posted here before, but it doesn't seem there has been a solution. i have a 10gb data plan and have never once gone over my data. this month, spotify alone has used over 8gb in data - 1.1gb burned up yesterday in 15 minutes of streaming. i've had to reup my data three times, for a cost of $30, to ensure that i didn't pay overages. has anyone else figured out what causes this or how it's fixed?

It's probably caused by the quality you choose to stream music! Higher quality means more data.
and if you've set the quality to Automatic it may go to Extreme quality if you got fast data on your iPhone!
So what i recommend you to set it to normal if you don't want to waste much data :

On Spotify for iPhone : just go to Settings -> Streaming Quality -> and set it to Normal.

That's not the issue. I've used Spotify for years with no issue. This is
a one-off because of a bug. Thanks.

For what it's worth, this used to happen to me from time to time as well. I've switched carriers to T-Mobile, and streaming music is free on T-Mobile: Spotify usage doesn't count against my monthly data allowance, so I don't think about it (or even know about it!) any more.
