So I recently bought my dream car - 2017 Nissan Maxima and I was thrilled to find that it came with Apple Carplay and that Spotify was supported. I've been a loyal Spotify premium customer for years and love it. It has been my main source of music for driving via bluetooth since 2012 or so. So when I realized I was going to be able to control the app from a shiny new screen instead of risking my life to search through the app while driving I was thrilled...at first.
Its functionality is so inconsistent compared to the other Carplay apps. The major issue for me is that the app doesnt list the full content of all my playlist pretty much ever. When I check the app on the phone though they're all there. Even for the playlists that do appear the entire content will not display. It shows maybe ten songs in a playlist of say 90 or so. My workaround has been to disconnect carplay - get the music started where I want with the phone display through bluetooth and then reconnect . once I get that far I can skip songs pretty easily as long as I dont try to switch playlists - then I have to run through the procedure again. It kind of defeats the purpose of this awesome carplay integration if I have to keep pulling out the phone to get it to work. Is there any plan to get this working correctly? This is a major setback for Spotify. I have been pretty happy with the product but I have a free trial of Sirius satelite that I may go over to from Spotify premium if this isn't resolved soon since that is at least consistent and I'm not paying for two premium music services - even apple music appears to be bug free. I'm really hoping Spotify has developers on this ASAP. I need something consistent in the car and this is really disappointing. It seems like people have been complaining about this for two years and there doesnt seem to be much of a response from Spotify. I'm hoping this changes quick. This first world problem is really just uncalled for. How can I enjoy my Starbucks latte with this stress every morning?
