Account erroneously suspended due to “unauthorized content downloads”?

Account erroneously suspended due to “unauthorized content downloads”?

My account was recently suspended for “unauthorized content downloads,” however I have never engaged in such an activity. I managed to regain access, but as an engineering student, I must know why my account was flagged to prevent it in the future.

The whole point of me paying for Spotify was to legally stream music, and with Premium’s “download to device” feature (which saves me in my many rural drives), there’s no reason I’d have to download content in any other way. As a university student, I’ve used Spotify on many computers here, and once through the API in a personal project, so I’m confused as to why this has happened.

I understand there’s privacy and other company policies at play.

I understand. Are there any general technical notes you can give me? I would like to better understand how the system detects such issues and possibly see how my usage of my account (multiple recent login locations, public API use, etc) may have triggered it.

Hey @bsykes3487,

Thanks for the reply. You can check out the Terms and Conditions that outline all of the guidelines for using Spotify's apps and services. It includes comprehensive and concrete details about how to use the platform responsibly and the type of violations.

Thanks for the tip. I'm still waiting on a more comprehensive answer from the official support team, so I appreciate your help in the meantime! At this point it's more a curiosity than anything.

My two spotify accs were blocked for this as you explain but then you start to recover 1 acc then I get nothing.Where's your boss to explain that advisors in support are bad?

Spotify is absolutely useless. Their "security" team just locked my premium account and of course the illiterate "advisors," who barely speak English, just keep saying we don't have any information at this time check your email. Time for someone to file a class action lawsuit.

I got an issue logging in on Spotify with my google account.
I can't login in the past few days, on whichever PC or phone:cry:

United state region.

whenever I used the main google account to login I got "Oops! Something went wrong, pleas try again or check out our help area".
Can't get the password reset email for normal login method either.

But I can register a new account with another google account, and that doesn't help because I don't have playlist on new account and premium is on old account.
