I'd like to give my niece a Spotify *student* subscription for her birthday. I already have a premium subscription of my own. How do I add a subscription for her (that will be charged to my card)?

You have a few options, neither of which are ideal I'm afraid. 

1. You can get her to set up an account, then enter your card details on her account to subscribe. This way, you can apply the student discount (if valid) but essentially you are trusting her with your card details as you won't be in control of the account. 

2. You can gift her the Spotify team by an eCard (or physical gift card) if available in your region, but these codes can not be used in conjunction with the Spotify student offers.

Thanks for the answer. That is a shame. Having sub-accounts seems like something a lot of parents would want. The idea of using a gift card and paying double the cost each month is obviously a non-starter. Guess I'll have to think of a different birthday present and Spotify will have atleast one less premium user.
