Annual Subscription - Why is it made so difficult or impossible?

I have been using Spotify Premium ever since it became available in India. In the previous years I remember it being hard to figure out how to pay annually or setup an auto-renew. Every year it expires, deletes my family setup and I have to setup all over again.

This year I see that there is absolutely no way to make an annual payment from India. Only monthly payments allowed! Only round-about way mentioned in forums is to buy a gift certificate, which too is not available in India.

Is there a good business reason why Spotify doesn't make it easy to (or even allow) to make yearly payments? Or is it just lack of empathy to users as they are pretty much a monopoly at the moment?

If anyone has figured out a way to do this (i.e. pay for one year of Premium Family), please help.

Ok up until now, for many many years now, i was able to make one time payment for 1 year subscription renewals. But now i am only offered monthly payment options. Have you removed one off payment option and why?
