Can't change the country

Can't change the country

Hi. I created my account in Spain but now I'm living in The Philippines. I tried to change the account country using Philippine bank details as they request but in the last step I get the message "You're in a non Spotify country", which doesn't seems to be true as Spotify is working here.

It's important to be able to change this. In the Philippines the Premium account is so much cheaper (like getting a 70% off), and with the bad internet connection they have here, it makes no sense to continue paying my "spanish" price. So, if I'm not able to change the account country and get the Philippine's price, I think I'll cancel my subscription.

Hi @jlschulvi thanks for posting in the Spotify Community! 

 

The Phillipines is most definitely a Spotify country so your problem is most likely something technical I think. I would recommend trying again using a different web browser, an incognito window, and deleting cache/cookies. Spotify works out your location using your IP address, which you can check here, so make sure that's correct too, turning off proxy or VPN servers for example may help. Is the credit card your using to make the payment a philippines card? Just checking, as it will need to be to get the Philippines pricing. 

 

If all that fails perhaps try a fresh install of Spotify, this tutorial will help with that.

Hey @bearfootrecords thanks a lot for your answer.

 

Unfortunately, I tried all your advices, included the fresh install of Spotify, and still have the same problem.

It could be the IP issue. If I go to settings in my Mac I can see that my IP is different, but if I change it and use the one I got from your link, then Internet stop working.

Hope you can help me in some way. Maybe I need to work on the IPv4 settings?

It'll be working out your IP based on wherever you are in the world. I'm a little confused over where abouts in the world you are the minute but If you're in the Philippines then the IP will be based there too, if not then sadly there's not much you can change without moving home! If the IP address is showing a country that you are not in then perhaps there could be a technical problem involved at which point I'd advise getting in touch with Spotify Care, who may be able to help. Get them through this contact form.

I'm living in The Philippines, of course. That's why I'm trying the change. But yeah I get lost when talking about IPs, it seems my IP still a spanish one even I'm connected here.

 

Will try to contact Spotify Care as you recommend.
