Can you reuse an email that is being/has been used on an old account?

I want to change my spotify username, but obviously there is no way to do that. The support website says that you cannot reuse a username that has been used with a deleted or existing account, however I want to use the same email on the new account (that will havea different username than the old one) as I did on the old account. If I close my existing account, can I open a new account with the same email address?

I think you need to wait long time after Spotify releases deleted accounts and usernames.

I already created a new account using an old username.
