My Question or Issue

Setting up Spotify for Artists seems rather confusing, I have setup my Distrokid account and uploaded a rudimentary track but set it for release next May as I'm not read to properly release yet. I cannot find it when I search https://artists.spotify.com/c/team/access/artist

I want to setup my Spotify for Artists account so that I can secure the name, as I've already bought the domain and setup all the socials. What am I doing wrong and why is it so confusing?

Ok so for anyone else struggling with this issue, I have found the solution by talking with support. Which, shouldn't be necessary for such a simple issue that I'm sure other ppl have as well.

If you are a new artist and want to set everything up properly ahead of your first release, because that's how these things work, you need to do as I did and upload something via your distributor... anything really. I literally just recorded some rudimentary instrumentation for 3 mins and uploaded that, then scheduled it for release WAY in the future. I'll come back and delete the upload so it doesn't matter really what it contains, as long as it is actually deemed a song by the algorithm and appears legit.

Also if you're using Distrokid you'll need to get their plan that allows for advanced scheduling (not in the bottom tier).

Then, Distrokid (and presumably other distributors) will set out creating your various profiles on the various DSPs. That way you have secured your artist name on those various platforms without having to publicly release any music.

It will take around 24-48 hours before you can search your name in the Spotify for Artists page. Also it just occurred to me that you might need to contact support anyway to get your artist URI if you have setup things like I have but I can't confirm if that's true or not. I suppose if you don't want to just be unorganized then best contact them regardless so it's all sorted.

Honestly such a simple process made so difficult by... ppl just being unorganized as a standard? I dunno, but this is extremely dumb. It's ass-backwards as they.
