Cannot update email address

I've tried everything I can think of to update my email address and every time I get this message:
"For your protection, we are unable to process your request at the moment. Please try again later. "
Password details I'm using are correct.
Any ideas gratefully received, thanks!

I am trying to change my email address but I am receiving the error message of "For your protection we are unable to process your request at the moment. Please try again later."

 

I have never owned a VPN. I have used 3 different networks. I have used 4 different browsers. I have used the Mac Spotify app but, that redirects me to the browser to change the email. I have used the mobile app. The error code I get on the mobile app is "The request to the server has failed. Please try again later."

 

None of the above methods have worked. I would like Spotify support like @ceauke received, to quickly have my email address changed too but I am unsure where to go to receive that tailored support. Thank you for your time.

I forgot to mention that I have also used incognito mode too but unfortunately that has not worked either.

I've tried turning my VPN off, tried various anonymous browsers, nothing. I just get "Something went wrong, please try again." Frustrating, I really need to get rid of this old email address.

yeah, I just made a new email and it wont let me update the old one to said new one.

Unfortunately none of these methods are working for me. I've tried changing the email address on my iPhone and MacBook, on the app and various different browsers, in normal and private browsing modes. I've also tried over both cellular and our home Wi-Fi and I'm not using any sort of VPN.

 

Can someone from Spotify please help me change the email address on my account?

I can't change the email address, writes an error occurred, try later, but even later the error does not disappear.

Hi, I've tried all the suggestions and going to the accounts page multiple times but none of it works. My Spotify account is still in my old email address and I can't change it, no matter what I try. I don't have VPN and I don't have my old email account on any other devices on web except for my computer and it's not working on it. Are there any other possible solutions to change my email?

I have tried to change my email multiple times over the last two weeks and it keeps saying for my protection it can't change my email. That email is sunsetting and I need to get it changed,

I am having the exact same issue and would love to know how to be able to change my email!

Having the same problem too, super annoying that they can't fix this? It's been a huge hassle since the account was originally linked to my facebook account which used an old school email. Now trying to change it is impossible.

What should I do if Spotify is banned in my region  so I need to use a VPN?

I had the same problem. Only contacting the support helped. Suggesting to disable online security tools is not acceptable.

, It seems I am unable to use or locked out of a spotify account of mine Whenever I attempt to reset the password it says that "This email address or username is not linked to a Spotify account" however if I attempt to sign up with the same email it says it is already linked to an existing spotify account. Additionally,**bleep** that I believe I had originally signed up with using facebook and also cannot sign up with that email as it also says it is already linked to an existing spotify account but this should not be possible as I had set for it to be deleted. Please let me know how to amend these issues and if you need anything from me, Thank you.

When I try to change my email (the old email is no longer valid) it says "For your protection we are unable to process your request at the moment. Please try again late"

None of these solutions have worked for me either. Changing your email should be straightforward, but it's not. Disappointing, especially from a company with the resources of Spotify!

Better off just closing your account and reopening a new one.

Thanks for all your replies and for the info shared.

 

To update the email address linked to your account, you should follow these steps. If those are not working, consider trying:

  • Using a different device.
  • A different connection. You can try to perform this process while you're connected to a private network such as the one at your home or one of a relative.
  • Using a different browser or an incognito window.

If none of the above does the trick, or if you've lost access to the email linked to the account, and you forgot the password, it's best to get in touch with our Customer Support team here, so they can offer further alternatives.

 

Keep in mind that, when updating the email of your account, you'll need to use one that is not in use on another Spotify account. To check if the email you want to link to your account is free to use, go to password reset and enter possible email addresses you own. When you enter an email that's registered with Spotify, you'll get a password reset message for that email.

 

If you find the account that is currently linked to the email address you want to use, you can delete it by following these steps. Once you've done that, you'll need to wait up to 30 days from the date of deletion for it to be cleared from the old account.
