Change country - Only family plan available?

Change country - Only family plan available?

Hi 🙂
I recently moved to the UK from NZ and am updating my Spotify account with my new UK bank details. When I change country it asks for which 'plan/subscription' I want but it only offers the family plan. I previously had standard premium and am just wanting to continue this.

I have to change country as my NZ account has no money in it as its all in my UK account and it'll be cancelled in a couple days if i don't update 😞

Hoping someone can help?
Thank you!

Hey @madeleine23,

You should have no issues updating your payment method when following the instructions from this support article: https://support.spotify.com/account_payment_help/account_basics/how-can-i-change-my-country-setting/

Let me know how it goes. 🙂

Hi - thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately I was following those steps before but it still only offers the option of 'family plan' ??

Do you know if there a way I can speak to someone at Spotify?

Thank you 🙂

Are you able to post a screenshot of what you see?

Also, Spotify currently doesn't offer customer support over the phone 🙂

Hi,

I had another look (oops!) and there is a standard premium option, however instead of monthly payments it's asking for a one off payment of $180ish. I'm currently on a monthly payment plan and have been for a few years and am happy on that. Do you know how I can continue monthly payments?

Thank you - really appreciate your help!

Can you please post a screenshot of the choice of subscriptions? Premium is usually available as monthly subscription.

Also, can you please confirm that you've followed all steps from this support article: https://support.spotify.com/account_payment_help/account_basics/how-can-i-change-my-country-setting/?

Hi,

I have followed those instructions several times now and still no monthly option. I have attached screenshots of the two available options. This is driving me crazy! Really hope you can help! Strange they don't have people/a help team to assist but thank god for you!

Thank you 🙂

Sorry for the confusion, could you try heading to https://www.spotify.com/account/subscription/ to update your payment details? Could you also send us a screenshot of each step to see if we can replicate the issue?

You should be able to update your payment deatils on this page.

Hi,

Sorry no so I do know how to update payment details and there is nothing wrong with doing that. What my issue is is connecting my account to the correct subscription. So it is only offering an annual subscription (pay $180 upfront) or a family subscription. I just want the monthly subscription which I currently have but when I change country to the UK it doesn't offer this monthly option.

Hopefully I make sense. The steps you've given me work perfectly, but that's not what my problem is.

Thanks 🙂

Can you please try it in a private/incognito window?

Hi - just tried now and same issue. I've tested it with other countries as the option to change to but same issue - only family or annual subscription is offered.

Have you heard of this happening before? My Spotify will stop as of tomorrow morning too 😞

Okay, so there's really nothing to worry about. Spotify should carry on working on Free for 14 days while in a different registered country.

When your account has reverted back to Free, you should be able to change your country to United Kingdom by following the steps here: https://support.spotify.com/account_payment_help/account_basics/how-can-i-change-my-country-setting/.

Once you've changed your account's country setting, you can head over to https://spotify.com/premium to resubscribe to a monthly Premium subscription.

Hope this helps!
