Disabling Facebook

Disabling Facebook

HI

I'm considering disabling my facebook account. I'm a premium Spotify subscriber and I'm worried that my Spotify use will be disrupted. Anyone know what the consequences of disabling Facebook are?

thanks!

If you only have the Facebook credentials to Spotify - they are tied / linked. If you deactivate / remove the Facebook access, I bet the Spotify tied to that account will stop also. Think I'v seen messages like this before.

Comment from other thread:

"Spotify now requires an active Facebook account in order to log in, since that's how it now authenticates.

You can unlink the social sharing element of Spotify from FB, though: Preferences > Social Network > Disconnect from Facebook.

That will prevent Spotify from posting to Facebook, or importing your FB friends, etc. However you'll need to keep the FB account active in order to log in to Spotify: as you've seen, you'll run into problems with Spotify if you try to flat out delete your FB account."

Thanks. That's my fear. I don't want to disable Spotify Social; I'm starting to hate Facebook and want to try living without it for a while. Can't live without Spotify though 😞

I know the feeling, Thank god I registered before Facebook integration.

Actually so did I, but I still don't trust that everything will be smooth.

Now starting to look into alternative to Spotify.

If you have credentials before Facebook integration, then there should be no problem. If you log in to spotify using your Spotify credentials not facebook, how does stuff seem out?

Or check www.spotify.com and log in with spotify ID not facebook and see if you can see the subscription there.

You could ask to move your stuff from Facebook ID to Spotify ID and then you don't need facebook anymore. My parents are using Spotify ID only since they don't have Facebook account, and it works fine.

Hey!

If you created a account to Spotify with Facebook, you need a active facebook to keep Spotify active. So if you de-activate or delete Facebook account, you can't access Spotify anymore.

If you have old Spotify account, you can use this even if you delete or de-activate Facebook.

According to the info, you'd need to recreate the account. Re-subscribe to Premium, Resubscribe to playlists and such.

Thanks for your efforts. The prospect of losing my 100+playlists is just too scary. I guess I'm stuck with Facebook for now... 😞

You could try creating a new account and then asking support to copy playlists over. They've done that before.

If you have unlimited or premium you'll have to cancel and remake the subscription on the new account. Hopefully you didn't sign up for a year, I always say it's a bad idea.

Unfortunately, we don't have any ability to actually copy playlists between accounts, although it would be handy.

In cases where a new account needs to be created, we just suggest storing bookmarks to playlists (by drag and drop), and then dragging them into the playlist column when in the new account. With hundreds of playlists, this would be a heavy task, and even then the playlists would no longer be editable.

I have disabled my facebook account and being a premium in spotify nothing happend, anyway i want to remove the association between the two systems.
