'Download my data' functionality confirmation mail leading to non valid SSL certificate backed page

My question or issue:

When I trigger the 'download my data' functionality under Profile -> Account -> Privacy -> 'Download my data' I receive an e-mail where the confirmation link will take me to a page with an invalid SSL certificate (issued for *.sendgrid.net instead of *.spotify.com) and since HSTS is enabled I can't get to the next step.

Hi,

I just requested my data. I will let you know if I run into problems also.

Regards,

René

Hey there!

I'd recommend you try following these steps:

  • Sign out of Spotify on your browser
  • Go here and enter your login details
  • Click on the Privacy settingstab in the left sidebar
  • Scroll down to Download your data and under Step 1 clickREQUEST
  • Open the confirmation email, right-click on the green CONFIRM button and open it in an incognito window

Make sure to let me know how you get on 🙂

Thank you – this works as a quick workaround.
However this should be filed as a bug to Spotify since this poses both a security issue and is actually blocking people from getting their data as regulated by GDPR.

Hello there!

I'm glad to hear that worked. Can you let  me know I'd opening the link in an incognito window what what did the trick? If so, there might be some data stored in your browser you need to clear.

Keep me posted 🙂

Yes that's exactly what made it work ✌🏼
Would your suspicion be an invalid TLS cert was cached? I'd be curious It'd be there in the first place.

Hey @maxsommer!

Yeah I think some data stored in your browser might have caused the issue. However, everything should be fine if you clear your browser's cache.

Let me know if you have any other questions 🙂
