Gifting a student subscription?

Is it possible to gift someone a student subscription as a gift?  I'd like to pay for a year's worth for one year, but it needs to be a gift that they don't have to worry about payments, etc.   Thanks!

You can't gift an student subscription for $4.99, you'll have to pay the regular price of $9.99 per month. If you'd like to buy an gift card for one year, it costs you $9.99 x 12.

The receiver of the gift doesn't have any worries then, until it expires after one year. 

If the person is premium via student discount, her subscription continues after the gift card expiration.

Michael is correct on this one, gift cards are redeemed for the advertised product not their cash value. So a 6-month premium eCard is worth 6 months of premium regardless of any discounts which are applied to the redeeming account.
