I would like to give a year of Spotify Premium for Family to a couple as a gift. Is this possible, or is this only something that can be initiated by them?
Hi!
You can actually purchase gift cards for Spotifty at electronic stores:
https://www.spotify.com/us/gift-card/
This should help!

Hello @ReverendEntity, welcome to the Spotify Community!
I'm afraid that won't be possible as they need to be purchased by them because according to the Terms & Conditions all the users of Premium for Family must live at the same address.
But if you want to gift them Premium you can purchase them a Gift Card, you can do it online (https://www.spotify.com/purchase/ecards/) or at a physical store.
The problem with that, though, is all the e-cards are preconfigured with amounts that assume you're giving someone a year of individual Premium. There should be a blank card that lets me put in the amount for a year of Premium For Family ($179.88 is what I figured - $14.99 x 12 months). Or for that matter, a card preconfigured with that amount.
It would be nice if I could just send them an e-card with a year's amount and detailed instructions on how to setup their Premium For Family account (they're an older couple and frequently need a bit of hand-holding to understand technological matters).
Oh, well. 😞
I am facing the same problem, and under an XMas deadline. It makes absolutely zero sense for Spotify not to allow you to give Family Premium as a gift. Frustrating, and I guess Spotify loses out on this one, I'll just have to pivot to something else (so Spotify's loss is Amazon's gain I guess).
