Help: Using Spotify at home and on the move

I have the Spotify Premium family plan. My account is hooked up to our Amazon Echo, as well as on my phone, and my wife has her own on her phone.

If I'm outside the house listening to music, and she plays a song on the Amazon Echo, since it's on my account, my Spotify stops playing on my phone.

I could change the Echo to be her account, but then the same thing would happen if I'm home listening and she's out.

Is this a common problem? I couldn't be the first. Any creative solutions? I guess I could create a "house" account for the Echo within the Family plan but that feels messy.
