How can my email address already be in use?

I wanted to change my email to my new one but I can't because it says that my new email is already in use but it's not?

Little help here please!

Hi there @miiichaaeelaa! Welcome to the Spotify Community.

While I'm not entirely too sure how or why your new e-mail address could possibly be in use, you should try to retrieve your password using the "Forgot your password?" function on the login page via the Spotify main page.

If the e-mail is truly registered, then you'll be sent your password.

Is your new e-mail address tied to a Facebook account you've used to login to Spotify?

I tried to sent a new password to my new e-mail, but it only said "Unfortunately there is no email address associated with the specified user. We are therefore unable to send a password retrieval URL to you."

So I don't now what the problem is.. I have connected my facebook account (that has my new e-mail) to my spotify but I can't change the e-mail on my spotify profile.

If you get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form they will be able to get that sorted out for you. 

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.
