How do you remove people from the "What Your Friends Are Listening To" window?

I would like to "hide" some of the heavy users that do not have similar musical taste. This drowns out the people I would actually like to see in this window. I don't have these individuals added as my spotify friends. My guess is that I could un-friend them on facebook, but I have to leave them to be politically correct.

This is my only hangup with the service. Please help!

Has this issue been addressed yet?  I don't care whaty 80% of my fb friends are listening to but would like to see a few peoples stream.

This has been solved in the latest release, v0.8.8 which is currently being rolled out to everyone. Your activity feed now only shows activity from people that you follow rather than from everyone in your friends. 

If you haven't got the new client yet, there is no way to manually force an update so just sit tight and it will make it to you soon.

I downloaded the latest client from https://www.spotify.com/us/download/windows/ and it is still 0.8.5!
