My Question or Issue

I'm trying to disconnect my facebook from my old account. The troubleshooting just says log into the account and click log out everywhere. I did this and I still can't link my Facebook to my current Spotify account. Is there a way I can just delete my old account?

Hey @Disturbed1117, and welcome to the community.

Hope you're doing great!

To disconnect your Spotify account from Facebook:

  1. Open the Spotify desktop app.
  2. In the top-right corner, click then Settings.
  3. Under Social, click DISCONNECT FROM FACEBOOK.

If you don't see this option, this means the account has been created with Facebook, and cannot be disconnected. You can learn more about this here 🙂

The solutions offered in those articles didn't help.

@Disturbed1117,

Thanks for the quick reply 🙂

You mentioned in your first post that you were using a mobile device. Keep in mind the steps I provided in my last reply are only possible by using the Spotify desktop app, which you'll need a computer for it.

If you created your account with Spotify directly, then connected it with Facebook but cannot disconnect it, could you send me a screenshot of an error message being shown if possible?

Keep me posted 🙂

I followed the steps exactly in the desktop app. I signed into the account
associated with my Facebook and clicked on the log out everywhere. It was
an account created with Facebook. And I tried linking my current account
with Facebook and it gave me the error that another Spotify account was
still linked to my Facebook.

@Disturbed1117,

Thanks for the reply 🙂

Could you confirm you've followed these steps in order:

  1. If your current account is on a Premium subscription, cancel it (you can resubscribe on your new account).
    Note: If you have the student discount, you won’t be able to apply it to your new account until 12 months have elapsed since you signed up for it.
  2. Go to your account page and click SIGN OUT EVERYWHERE at the bottom.
  3. Create your new account.

If those didn't help, please send me a screenshot of an error message being shown.

Keep me in the loop 🙂

The issue is I currently have two accounts. The one linked to my Facebook
(which I forgot about) and my premium account which I've been using for the
past few months. I don't want to lose my premium account.

@Disturbed1117,

Just to confirm, you'd like to disconnect your Facebook account from your old account, and connect it with the one you're currenly subscribed to Premium with?

Yes

@Disturbed1117,

Thank you for the clarification 🙂

Since you mentioned that you have created this account with Facebook, it won't be possible to disconnect it, as you didn't first create it with Spotify directly.

As long as the old account with Facebook is not on Premium, I wouldn't have much to worry about as far as payment goes, but if you'd like Facebook on the account with Premium, it won't be possible since you created the old account with Facebook, and not with Spotify. I do apologize for the incovience.

As I mentioned above, you can learn more about Facebook and Spotify by checking out this support article 🙂

I hope this helps!
