I have been spotify premium user for a few years, I listen to music in my office behind a Cisco WSA proxy in auto-detect / transprent mode. I use my Facebook account to login on a Windows 7 laptop with Chrome as default browser.
Since last Spotify update, after I enter my login details I receive "Service is temporarily unavialable, plase try again later."
Hello Benji13,
This error means that your proxy server is returning code 503 ( because it is overloaded or down for maintenance ).
Often this state is temporary until the service is back up.
I would check with my local system administrator, what can cause this or if there was maintenance during that time.
Hello benji13,
I would like to see your prefs file.
Can you please navigate to C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\prefs.
Please copy paste the line starting with :
network.proxy.addr
or just make sure that the proxy url does not start with http:// or https://.
Here is good example how your config should look like :
network.proxy.addr="your.proxy.address:port@protocol"
I do not see network.proxy.addr.
Maybe that's becuase my Spotify is set to auto-detect and my proxy works in transparent mode.
This setup has been working for me for years.
I just noticed that Spotify has added a "no-proxy" option, I switched to this option and it solved the problem.
