Mail address occupied but not registerd when I ask for password reset

Hi,

When I try to create a new account for my wife I get the message that the mail address is in use. I then went to "forgot my password" according to the FAQ to see if she's created an account and forgot about it. In that dialog I get the messege that now account exist with this mail address.

Any ideas how to get around this problem?
