My account is linked to an old email that I can't access.

My account is linked to an old email that I can't access.

I know my Spotify is linked to an old email address but a) I don't know which one and b) I don't have access to any email accounts apart from my current one. It goes without saying but I've got no idea what my password is either. Tried to chat Spotify but the link seems to be broken. Can anyone help? Oh also I've had to create a new account just to post this question.

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

 

In this case, if you have open your Spotify account of current use on a mobile device, you can check the email linked to it by following these steps:

  1. Go to Home.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. At the top of settings, you can see the email linked to your account (if any).

If you notice (as you mentioned) that you don't have access to the email linked to the account, you can follow the steps in this article to update it. Nevertheless, since you mentioned you don't remember your password, the best way to go would be to contact our Customer support team, so they can help you explore some other alternatives. You can find out how to contact them here.

 

We'd like to add that if you want to update the email in your account, keep in mind you'll need to use one if it's not in use on another account. Since you mentioned you have to create a new account, It's possible you have more than one now. To verify this, go to password reset and enter possible email addresses you own. When you enter an email that's registered with Spotify, you'll get a password reset message for that email.

 

If you find the account that is currently linked to the email you want to use, you can delete it by following these steps. Once you've done that, you'll need to wait 14–30 days from the date of deletion for it to clear from the old account.
