My band's co-founder, who uploaded all of our albums to Spotify, has had a bad falling out and is acting in a bad manner towards the rest of the band. Everything was uploaded from his Distrokid account, how can I keep him from being able to add or remove songs from our Artist page, and how, if possible, can I go about removing him from being able to have any involvement with the Artist page at all. Thanks for any help!

Hey @sublime2freedom,

Thanks for reaching out.

Since your former bandmate uploaded all of your albums through their own DistroKid account, they are currently the only one with the ability to add or remove music. That won’t change unless they give you access to that account.

Anyone can use a distributor like DistroKid to submit music to Spotify, so if you’re looking to regain control over your releases, you’d likely need to re-upload the music through your own DistroKid account. However, keep in mind that the existing releases will stay up unless your former bandmate removes them.

If any of the newly added music has been incorrectly attributed to your artist page, you can request to have it moved to the correct page. More info on that can be found here.

If you believe your rights are being infringed and you’d like to request the removal of the current releases, you can submit a request here. That being said, I can’t provide legal advice, so you may want to consult a professional if needed.

Hope this helps! 🙂
