Playlists persist after having deleted them. Why?

Playlists persist after having deleted them. Why?

I just discovered that when I delete a playlist from my left column it is only deleted to me.

That is, the list is still available to anyone who has subscribed or has kept the playlist url.

The delete functionality is either conscoiusly misleading or not working as intended?

If I delete data that I have created myself from my own account I want it to be gone not only to me but everyone who subscribed!

Indeed this is the intended behavior of Spotify playlists.

Although the experience of deleting a playlist doesn't make this apparent, there are a lot of situations where its pretty handy that the playlist isn't removed from other user's profiles.

For example, the playlist being removed from everyones profiles would remove someones favorite songs from their library. Also, in the situation of accidentally deleting a playlist, you would need to contact customer service to have it restored before you or your friends could listen again.

Again though, I would agree that this information could be more obvious.

I am not sure the argument about Favourite Songs disappearing is a real problem as people surely migrate their favourite tunes from subscribed playlists and into their own custom lists in their account.

The word "Delete" should be replaced by  "Remove shortcut" or "Unlink".

As is stands now it is clearly a misleading concept.

Optimally there should also be an "Are you sure?" dialogue after clicking delete on a playlist with a sub-tickbox where one could tick "delete forever".

It is in fact a bit of a privacy breach (alltough I realize it may sound silly talking about playlists) when users are under the impression they are deleting their privately composed lists while in reality all the data is still out there in the cloud to everyone who subscribed.

I can confirm this is still the case, pressing delete doesn't actually delete the playlist on the backend. It would also appear that every playlist that i've listened to is registered under the Music section of my Facebook (FB) account. Interestingly within FB you can drill down into my activity within each playlist showing just how granular the logging is.
