Hi, I have discovered an issue, which I'm assuming is a bug.
If one makes a new playlist that contains 331 tracks or less and shares the url of the playlist with someone else then that other person will be able to see the playlist and it's full content and play it. This is correct behavior.
If, however, one makes a playlist that contains 332 or more tracks and shares the url of the playlist with someone else then that other person will not be able to view the playlist but instead get the message 'This playlist is currently empty'.
Additionally if one makes a playlist with 331 tracks, then removes a track and then adds a new track, the other person will now see a playlist with 330 tracks, which excludes both the removed track and the newly added track.
So, in conclusion, it seems that any playlist has a maximum of 331 slots that are able to be shared with another person and once a slot has been filled one time it cannot be filled again even if the track occupying the slot was removed.
The above described behavior was found to exist with both paid and unpaid accounts.
This behavior appeared first somewhere after the 28th of March 2013.
I would request for a forum official to try and confirm this behavior and if successful send the appropriate information to the developers. Unless of course this new behavior was intended. In which case I would certainly like to learn why that is the case.
Thank you!
mine is fine when sharing and i have 2,800 tracks. so it seems strange for this occurrance.
Did you make this playlist recently?
To be clear: playlists that were made before the 28th of March (maybe even some days after) that have more than 331 tracks appear to be fine to others. However if you now try to add new tracks to that playlist these new tracks will not appear to others.
yes i have noticed this, the team is working on getting it solved sir.
Thank you for taking the time.
From our research it will work if you add < 332 tracks as stated in the first post!
It has been reported, hopefully it can be fixed soon!

One addition in case it matters for the fix. The 331 vs 332 behavior also exists within same user account on multiple devices.
I use Spotify on four devices (PCx2, Android mobile, Android tablet). If I make a new playlist on my PC and add more than 331 songs at the same time, that playlist remains empty on all other devices (for same user account).

Thanks for the report! 🙂
Definitely seems to be an issue of the playlist not going into sync with the Spotify servers when you add 332 tracks or more. If you catch the console output of the client, it shows a synchronisation error for that playlist ever 30 seconds so there is definitely something up!
One of the community moderators has submitted a full report about this, so hopefully the team will be able to pinpoint and bugfix in the next release.

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if there's any news on this issue. It hasn't been fixed but I was interested to learn if the devs communicated any information concerning the problem.
Hearing whispers this might be fixed in v0.9.1 but since its only just started rolling out, no official confirmation yet!

I see, I'm not too familiar with how Spotify works. Is v0.91 a new user-end client or just an upgrade to their central database. In other words; would I have to download it or not?
Also, is there any eta for v0.91 or not as of yet?
v0.9.1 is the newest edition of the desktop client (release notes are here).
You don't need to do anything, your client will automatically update when the rollout reaches you 😉

Hello,
The exact same problem, as I described in the first post of this topic over a year ago has now reappeared.
Same numbers 331 vs 332.
Can anyone in contact with the devs confirm that this bug has reappeared?
