Spotify and Facebook

Why after having my premium acct for the past 5 years do I have to delete it and start a new one just because I no longer want it to be tied to Facebook? What if I delete my Facebook ? Well I've been told I would have to reactivate my Facebook then delete my Spotify account, then re-deactivate my Facebook and then open a new Spotify account!! Why?? This all seems ridiculously unnecessary. Just let me unconnect my account and change my darn password, why is that so hard??
