Spotify doesn't recognize my e-mail address (though it does recognize my user name)

Spotify doesn't recognize my e-mail address (though it does recognize my user name)

When logging in or trying to retrieve a forgotten password, Spotify doesn't recognize my e-mail address. I managed to change password/login by entering my user name though. Any idea on how to fix this? The problem arose after trying to change password by e-mail (before it stopped working), and then finding out that the password I changed to didn't work. 

 

Help is appreciated!

Hello!

When you login with your username did you check that the email on the account is the same as the one you were entering before? You can check that here under "Profile".

Whats a Spotify Rock Star?

When you entered your email address, did you get an error message either saying the email address is not associated with an active account or that you needed to change your password on Facebook?

Yeah I checked that 🙂 I tried it again now just to be sure (copy-pasting the address to eleiminate spelling errors), and it still wouldn't work!

Hmm.. Well with logging in it would only work with your email if you are using a Facebook account, if your using a username it would give you this error message:

But, what is weird, is the password recover page not recognizing it.

Hmm, I did disconnect my facebook from an old spotify account just before this happened. Perhaps there's some kind of temporary mess in the database because of that? 

That is possible, I'd give it a little time and see if it corrects itself.

 

If not, we can defintiely get this escalated for further investigation for you.

@Per Still doesn't work.

(As I've said before, I can log in with my spotify user name though).

Is your Spotify username account connected to Facebook? You won't be able to log in using your email address unless that is the Facebook email address of the Facebook account attached to your real Spotify account.

What Peter said. When I said "please retry", I meant resetting your password. Logging in will only work with your username, if you're not connected to Facebook anymore.

@Goodman @Peter__ I think they were worried because it didn't work on"Forgot Password?" page. It says it is not associated with an account. 🙂

Whats a Spotify Rock Star?

I had this issue. I realised that my Facebook has a different password to my spotify so when I used my email address (which was the same for spotify and facebook) that it wanted my facebook password at the login rather than my spotify one. The username still wanted the spotufy password.

I'm getting this same message. I don't have Spotify linked to my Facebook, only direct log in. It still says Email not recongnized, nor user name. I have everything auto saved on my PC. It lets me log in there. WHen I try to log in manuely through my phone or the PC or reset my passsword I get the same error message. Please advise?
